Production Stages

 

Main production stages

Our design team consist of skilled designers with professional education and practice in the field of fashion and art. We use advanced design software to develop our products, which are inspired by fashion trends as well as by our own innovative design inspirations. We invest a lot in R ‘n D in order to develop new techniques and to be able to design and produce new unique product collections.

 

 

Our prototyping department is equipped with a specialized for jewelry 3d printer and two high accuracy CNC mills. Our staff chooses the best prototyping method according to the specific need of each design. The fully equipped prototyping department ensures confidentiality, rapid lead times and flexibility since everything is processed in-house. 

 

Our products are casted in silicone molds used for centrifugal casting, a technique also known as spin casting. The silicone we use is top quality from Italy. Throughout the years we have mastered the craft of silicone mold making and standardized it to a great extent. This ensures high quality, flexibility and casting consistency.

Products are “born” in the casting department. The molten metal is poured in the silicone molds using high end Italian centrifugal presses. Even though we have standardized and automated the process, it still remains labor intensive and requires sophisticated production planning to ensure on time delivery. We have developed software algorithms for this strenuous task in order to ensure flow in production.

Mould parting lines, roughness of surface and other imperfections are inherent to the casting process. This means that the products need further surface treatment. The main surface treatment in our factory is barrel tumbling, a process where the products are tumbled in barrels with abrasive media and water in order to acquire a uniform smoothness. Other mass finishing techniques -like vibrofinishing-  are also used when needed. Furthermore, in specific cases and especially for larger parts we perform hand grinding prior to mass finishing.

The polished products are electroplated in order to get their final finishing. We have an automated robotic electroplating production line that ensures repeatability, quality and productivity. The chemical engineer is responsible for the proper operation of the procedures and conducts multiple quality tests every day in the in-house and partner’s chemical lab.

We only use top quality materials from well esteemed chemicals suppliers. Since 2016 the lab is equipped with a state of the art XRF spectrometer. This machine is capable of accurately measuring the thickness of the electroplating layers as well as the chemical consistency of metals. Each batch is sample tested and only if it is approved we forward it to the next stage.

 

The electroplating process produces a big variety of chemical waste water that cannot be disposed to the sewage system without appropriate treatment. We have taken one more step and successfully implemented ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) waste water treatment. The waste water is collected in appropriate tanks, it is treated with automated processes and at the final stage we use sophisticated evaporator. This means that all the waste water is purified and become of very high quality allowing us to reuse it in production. The only waste is solid and is appropriately disposed to licensed receivers. The same goes for the waste water from the polishing department. This closed circuit water cycle means we have minimum water consumption, zero environmental footprint and excellent operating stability in our electroplating process ensuring sustainable growth. This achievement has made us feel more optimistic for the future!

Some of our products are decorated with cold enamel. This is a high quality Italian two component epoxy resin in various colours. The department is staffed with 4 experienced workers that have been enameling for many years. We are specialized in multicolored designs and each season we test many color combinations before we choose the best for our collections. Furthermore we have the know-how to create our own colours and match pantone colours. Finally, we have organized the department in such a way that despite the complexity of the job it can handle small quantities as well as big ones.

Magnetic clasps are one of the strongest categories of our catalogue. Magnetic clasps have become the favorite choice for many customers all over the world especially for leather bracelets due to the ease of use, elegance and the ability to be opened with one hand. We only use neodymium magnets of the strongest grade (the strongest magnets in the market).

One of the drawbacks of magnetic clasps worldwide is that when the magnets are glued there is a chance that, at some point, they may fall off. This problem is inherent to the gluing process because glue’s performance is dependent on many environmental parameters and also glue “ages” and loses its properties over time. After a lot of research and tests we managed to design our own machines and solve this issue, offering durable and strong clasps to our customers. The majority of the clasps designs have been modified to allow the mechanical fitting of the magnets.

Our stock is carried in our own branded plastic bags, packed with an automated bagging machine. This packing is also used for our wholesale shop in Athens. Bigger orders that are made to order are packed in bulk using standard plastic bags. All shipped orders are carefully packed in thick carton boxes. Custom made software is used throughout the logistics processes ensuring high levels of efficiency, accuracy and speed.

All our products intended for fashion jewelry are Nickel Free and Lead Free and comply with the REACH regulation. Furthermore we sample test the raw materials with the XRF spectrometer to guarantee their compliance.
